ظهرت بعض الطرق التي تخلص المستخدم من معاناة إستخدام الشواحن الكهربائية لشحن الهواتف والبطاريات، و الطريقة الجديدة هي استخدام شمعة لتحويل الطاقة الحرارية إلى طاقة كهربائية تسمح بشحن بطارية هاتفك.

الطريقة تكمن في استخدام جهاز محمول طورته شركة FlameStower يشبه القدر أو الكأس تضع فيه الشمعة وتقوم بإضافة بعض الماء فيقوم الجهاز باستخدام الطاقة الحرارية التي تنتجها الشمعة وتحويلها إلى طاقة كهربائية يتم إيصالها للهاتف عن طريق "كابل" أو منفذ USB ، ويقول فريق FlameStower أن الجهاز بإمكانه توفير طاقة تدوم لـ 6 ساعات من الإستعمال.
إذن هي طريقة جديدة للتخلص من معاناة  شحن الهواتف في حالة السفر أو التخييم أو رحلات لا يكون المستخدم فيها قريبا من مقابس الكهرباء.
